A terrible riding accident brings the orderly life of New York editor Annie and her family out of balance. The 14-year-old Grace is seriously injured and also carries large wounds from it. Your horse Pilgrim only survives barely, is completely disturbed and does not let any person approach himself. Annie knows that her daughter can only find connection to a normal life and her family via the horse. That's why she decides to enlist the help of a horse whisperer - someone who can heal the injured animal soul - and encounters Tom Booker. To meet the loner, she sets out with Grace and Pilgrim on the long journey from New York to Montana, guided by the hope that Booker will help the horse and thus her daughter. But what they experience there not only changes the life of their daughter.
