Benjamin Herman is well known in the Netherlands as one of the country s most original and versatile jazz musicians. Drawing on influences from outside the jazz scene he pays little heed to the unwritten laws of jazz, as a résumé of his recent work with his own quartet or with the New Cool Collective illustrates.

Heading a quartet which features Daniel von Piekartz on vocals and piano, he has selected an eclectic repertoire of tunes for this release with songs written by musicians as diverse as Fats Waller, JJ Cale, Sly Stone and Michel Legrand
