De familie Monroe is onderweg en besluit aan de kust van een rivier te gaan picknicken. De locatie is zo afgelegen, dat het dichtstbijzijnde stadje drie uur rijden is. Voor de familie beginnen de problemen wanneer zij tot de ontdekking komen dat zij zich in het territorium van een gigantisch, bloeddorstig zwijn bevinden. Het beest jaagt de familie op en probeert hen af te slachten. Een gevecht om te overleven begint.
