"Old School" marks the debut solo album by Ronnie Leatherman, the bassist from the classic lineup of the 13th Floor Elevators and one of the only members, alongside Roky Erickson, to release a solo album. Leatherman's career spans playing on all three studio albums of the 13th Floor Elevators, starting with the seminal "Psychedelic Sounds of the 13th Floor Elevators" in Dallas and Houston.

This album features a collection of original songs, covers, and demo recordings that showcase the breadth of his career spanning over 60 years. "Old School" includes contributions from significant musicians such as Paul Tennison, who briefly performed with the Elevators, and the late Terry Penny. The track "Coming Day," written in 1968 and originally intended for "Bull Of The Woods," highlights the album.
