Usher's Island

De term Ierse supergroep wordt misschien vaak ten onrechte gebruikt, maar is zeker van toepassing op Ushers Island. Deze groep bestaat uit Andy Irvine en Dnal Lunny (o.a. oprichters van Planxty), fiddler Paddy Glackin (The Bothy Band) en van de jongere generatie John Doyle (Solas) en Michael McGoldrick (Lnasa). Dit debuut-album werd al met spanning tegemoet ge-zien en lost de verwachtingen in: jigs en reels op een niveau dat je van zulke muzikanten mag verwachten, afgewisseld met fraaie ballads. Niet vernieuwend, wel gewoon erg goed!
