Compay Segundo was a legend of Cuban music. 'Duets' was released in 2001 when Company was 94 years old, two years before his passing. The album includes new recordings of classic songs of his and Cuban music repertoire. Compay sang with an impressive list of artists from different cultures; Charles Aznavour, Khaled, Cesaria Evora, Silvio Rodríguez, Pablo Milanés, Omara Portuondo, Eliades Ochoa, Santiago Auserón, even the actor Antonio Banderas. This vinyl edition includes an essay (in Spanish and English) by Compay's producer Luis Lázaro. Compay was the Godfather of Cuban music and one of the main artists on the 'Buena Vista Social Club' record, which has sold over 8 million copies and was awarded the 1998 Grammy for Best Traditional Tropical Latin Album.
