Europa, XIX secolo. La vita e le disavventure della giovane Saartjie Baartman, meglio nota come la 'Venere Ottentotta' a causa delle sue particolari caratteristiche fisiche. Appartente al popolo dei Khosan, i più antichi umani stabilitisi nell'Africa australe, venne portata in Europa con l'inganno e in seguito fu esposta come fenomeno da baraccone in Inghilterra, Olanda e Francia. Oggetto di studi per scienziati e pittori, la 'Venere ottentotta' fu utilizzata anche come oggetto sessuale e mori' a Parigi nel 1815.
