The main focus is on the text (in various modes: narration, monologue, dialogue, rap, spoken-sung), to which the music is entirely dedicated. The author wanted a “double musical reading” that was both simple and imagery-driven, rather like the double approach possible with Lewis Carroll's text. With a modern Alice on the cusp of adolescence, sporting a logo on her T-shirt that combines the question mark and the exclamation mark, two symbols of the work that has become mythical over the years. Philippe Leloup offers a revisited version of Alice, at once faithful to and different from the dreamlike, abundant and brilliantly absurd text that Lewis Carroll offers us on every page.
