In eine der gängigen Schubladen gepasst hat der Sound des für einen Mercury Prize nominierten Portico Quartets noch nie. Unterwegs auf der Schnittstelle zwischen Jazz und Electronica, Ambient Music und Minimalismus, hat die Band ihren ganz eigenen, episch-filmhaften Sound mit den drei bis dato veröffentlichten Alben immer weiter ausdifferenziert und verfeinert. Nach einer dreiköpfigen Phase unter dem Namen Portico auf Ninja Tune, ist die Band inzwischen wieder als Portico Quartet aktiv und veröffentlicht mit "Art In The Age Of Automation" nun ihr viertes Album bei Gondwana Records, mit Künstlern wie Matthew Halsall, Gogo Penguin oder Dwight Trible Manchesters erste Adresse für innovative Musik der Stilrichtungen Indie-Jazz und Electronica.
