Sophie ha diciotto anni e lavora nel negozio di cappelli ereditato dal padre. Un giorno, durante un giro fuori città, Sophie incontra Howl un giovane mago che vive a bordo di un castello che cammina.All’incontro assiste una strega che, accecata dalla gelosia, manda a Sophie una maledizione potentissima che la trasforma in una vecchia di novant’anni.
