Aram Khachaturian widmete sich der Ballettmusik und produzierte zwei Meisterwerke des Genres - Spartacus und Gayane. Die Ballette zeichnen sich durch eine unauslöschliche thematische Schönheit aus, für die das "Adagio von Spartacus und Phrygia" ein perfektes Beispiel ist, und im Fall von Gayane sind die Ballette symphonisch in der Konzeption und im Fall von Gayane durch die Verwendung von Leitmotiven gekennzeichnet. Die Masquerade Suite ist eine kontrastreiche Theaterpartitur. Diese sensiblen Klavierarrangements bewahren die Essenz der Musik von Khachaturian und erhalten die Textur und Klarheit der ursprünglichen Orchesterpartituren.
