Three years ago, Chris Porterfield rearranged the letters of his last name to make “Field Report” and assembled a band while recording their debut record. It caught on like wildfire, and the band suddenly found itself championed by NPR and Rolling Stone, performing with Counting Crows and Emmylou Harris, even covered by the legendary Blind Boys Of Alabama. Now, the band has been pared down to a quartet, their sound has focused, and the resulting sophomore record is a transcendent masterpiece. The music is instantly inspiring sonically and lyrically rewarding under scrutiny. In short, Porterfield has established himself as one of the finest living songwriters on “Marigolden”. Recently, fellow songsmiths ranging from Mark Eitzel to Aimee Mann (both boyhood idols of Porterfield) have come forth to praise his talents.
