Respect

Zangwana are an afro disco group founded by Pheko Patrick Mabolai in early 2008. He first met with Mogorisi Bashoma in a kwasa kwasa band called Slowly band in the 90s where he was a keyboardlist and Tsietsi a lead singer. It was from their departure from Slowly Band that Pheko decided to do disco music, then to achieve this he produced several disco artists such as Survivors. Pheko colaborated with Bathusi to release his first ever disco album titled Modimo Thusa translating 'God help us' . After his first project Pheko brought in Mogorosi Tsietsi in 2008 to produce his second album titled Lefitlhile translating 'my day has come' which was his first ever break through. The album received much of media recognition even up to date. Still in the same year Zangwana released a second album titled Ledlozi, which also received much recognition from disco supporters as well as the media at large. Pheko aka Zangwana has since then performed in different events such as weddings, festivals of big artists such as Dan Tshanda etc. In 2010 Zangwana returned with a sizzling album titled Mabaleng which was paying tribute to Pheko's long time business partner D.S Mabaleng coach tours. Two years from there Zangwana released their Dineo which was engineered by one of the former Splash band member Thando Zinto but produced by Pheko and song lead by Tsietsi as always. The album gave Zangwana international recognition with performances in most countries in Southern Africa. The Respect album brings 10 fresh tracks including an instrumental track in the style of Matshikos Reggae titled Zee Man. I'm Zangwana is a great introductory song that sings in English about their group and the Afro Disco genre. Mapodisi and Re A Tswelela blends some familiar Splash style elements to the song with some fresh touches brought / composed by Pheko Zangwana. The Respect album is also released in the UK by Africantunz and Pexangwana Services.
