The Kung Pao Chickens are a band which plays jazz,gypsy jazz, swing, and a smattering of latin tunes. We have been a band for 9 years now. The group has gone through a few lineup changes. Currently, and for the last several years, the group consists of Tim Acott (bass) Gary Guenther (flute,clarinet,sax,shakers,vocals),Tracy Kim (guitar), and Jon Neufeld (guitar). The Kung Pao Chickens is a group of musicians that are involved in a myriad of different projects. All the members have been a part of the Portland,OR area music scene for years as part of the Kung Pao Chickens as well as with other groups (jackstraw,the janglies,velvida underground,12 avenue hot club, speakeasy,the Belmont Street Octet, etc.) The Kung Pao Chickens have released their new CD "Live at The Roost" which was recorded at their long standing Monday night gig at the Laurelthirst Public House in north east Portland.
