The Golden Gate Quartet has existed since 1934. Founded by four students under the name The Golden Gate Jubilee Singers, they are one of the most successful performers of gospel music. They came from very religious families and initially sang in churches and on local radio stations. This increased the quartet s popularity. Only four years later they performed at Carnegie Hall. Some years later they toured Africa, Europe and Japan. With songs like Golden Gate Gospel Train or When the Saints go Marchin In they became famous worldwide. With changing line-ups the Golden Gate Quartet is still successful today.
