Op een mooie, zwoele avond in Los Angeles maakt de jonge Sam (Andrew Garfield) kennis met zijn aantrekkelijke buurvrouw Sarah (Riley Keough). Wanneer zij de volgende ochtend op mysterieuze wijze blijkt te zijn verdwenen, begint Sam aan een surrealistische zoektocht.
