Josh werkt op een biologische boerderij in Oregon. Door zijn contact met een aantal milieuactivisten wordt zijn ecologische overtuiging radicaler. Hij wil actie en zoekt nauwere banden met de jonge activiste Dena en met Harmon, een ex-marinier met een nogal troebel verleden. Samen ondernemen ze een nachtelijke riviertocht om een grootse daad te stellen. met onvoorziene en dramatische gevolgen.
