The book covers the period from 1653 to 1708, which includes the final years of the Greater Mughals before the empire’s decline following Aurangzeb’s death in 1707. It was translated into three different languages, when it was re-released in 1915 in Berlin.
This is an abridged version of Storia do Mogor, written by the Venetian traveler Niccolao Manucci, who was a self-taught Italian physician and historian. He wrote an account of the Mughal Empire, providing first-hand information about the empire during the reigns of Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb. It is the most detailed account of the Mughal court and their reign by a foreign traveler.
