The Greek text was discovered only recently by the editor, who identified, studied and edited it from a single extant manuscript kept in Bulgaria. The collection Capita ascetica Serdicensia is introduced here as a unique product of the early Byzantine literary tradition offering a glimpse into the cultural and religious attitudes served and into the working method of its compiler.
