The 425 km long Saale cycle path is presented here in leporello style, following the course of the Saale from its sources to where it flows into the Elbe near Barby south of Magdeburg. The cyclist crosses the federal states of Bavaria, Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt, passes historic cities such as Hof, Rudolstadt, Jena, Merseburg and Halle. In addition to dense forests and picturesque reservoirs, the many medieval castles are impressive.
