Anna Schäffer – An example for the sick, the suffering and the poor

Despite her physical suffering due to a tragic accident and her great material poverty, Anna Schäffer from Mindelstetten (1882–1925) led a life of great love for God and neighbor. The secret of her earthly life was that of an intimate union with Christ which, by divine grace, Anna Schäffer managed to deepen increasingly through the adverse circumstances of her life. Her character and her story can be understood only in the light of her great love for Jesus Christ in Communion, in the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist. She drew her strength also from her love for Mary, Mother of God, expressed in the recitation of the rosary.
