Many in the Rhineland know him through his large-scale charcoal drawings of seemingly archaic fragments of architecture. This book provides for the first-time insight into Bertram’s early work and the spectrum of his artistic career— an unremittingly explorative path, switching between the abstract and the figurative, culminating in a surprising corporeality evident in his current work.
