But when Maria helps the Polish Resistance she is arrested, imprisoned and sent to Auschwitz concentration camp.

This moving, inspirational true story of World War Two celebrates a young girl’s courage and determination to survive in terrible times, experiencing great cruelty but also surprising kindness. Vividly told as a graphic novel, the story is based on the real-life letters and memoirs of Maria Bryl and includes an endnote with information about WW2 and the real Maria.
