Rainey the Romany

A heart-warming and beautifully illustrated story of a young girl who starts a new school and proudly shares her Romany heritage — showing that honouring your culture and putting down roots in a new community can go hand in hand.

Rainey is nervous about her first day at a new school. Will the other children like her? When Rainey decides to share her Romany Gypsy traditions — full of songs, stories, and bright colour — her classmates discover how special her heritage is.

But just as Rainey begins to feel she belongs, her parents are ready to move onto the next Stopping Place. Can Rainey show them that she can keep her roots alive and still grow in one place?

A heartfelt story of courage, culture, and finding where you belong.
