Five years after the dramatic events that saw GrahamPilgrimm, a mild mannered middle-aged local government officer, clear his nameafter being framed for murder, he now finds himself a successful writer,married with a family, and living the life of his dreams in a picture postcardcottage in the Yorkshire Dales.

All is not as it seems though. There are tensions in hismarriage, threatened further by other players in the wings. An offer of aweek’s work, writing and filming a walk along Hadrian’s Wall, presents anopportunity for a fresh start on his return. However, an earlier case ofwriter’s block has inadvertently placed his life in mortal peril from an enemyfar more dangerous than anything he had to face five years ago.

Graham will not only have to draw on all of his ownresilience and courage for his survival, but also the resources of hisgovernment agent sister and his well-meaning but largely inadequate friends.
