In Dravenloch, music can tame monsters, heal the wounded, and rally armies. But eleven-year-old Ned Numbles is the worst bard apprentice anyone has ever seen. His off-key singing terrifies livestock and breaks instruments. When an ancient force known as the Crooner Below starts using music to control monsters and steal voices, it is Ned's gloriously terrible music that might be the only thing strong enough to fight back. Accompanied by a sarcastic talking goat, Ned sets off on a journey full of danger, mystery and a host of incompatible creatures.
