Everything in the Garden is a poignant yet entertaining account of the dilemmas facing women in late-middle age. it is about a group of 50-something couples who sell up their city homes to buy a rambling farmhouse in mid-Wales. They propose to live not communally, but in close harmony, growing old with the support of tried and trusted friends. However, Anna finds that far from supporting her through a string of crises, her friends are becoming strangers. But only then, after being forced to leave, she begins to womder whether they would really miss her if she left.
