Maybe Things Do Work Out in the End

Poems on the Weight and Wonder of Being Alive

‘Maybe things do work out in the end.
Like what if you wake up one day
and the life you always wanted
is the life you have.’

In Maybe Things Do Work Out in the End, poet Daragh Fleming writes from the messy centre of being alive. Moving through mental health struggles, loss, love, identity and the pressures of modern life, these poems reach for connection in the moments that keep us going. Often that connection is found in the ordinary; a comforting cup of tea, a dog waiting to play, a sibling’s laughter, a grandfather’s pencil marks or a helping hand reaching out to share the load.

For anyone who has ever had a difficult day, carried more than they thought possible or felt unsure of what might come next, this book offers recognition, comfort and the courage to believe that maybe things will work out in the end.
