Since then, the cavalry has seen action in the American Civil War and in frequent battles with Native American tribes on the western frontier, and more recently in World War II and the Korean War. This book details the history of the cavalry from its formation to the late 1960s, while profiling some of its most memorable leaders. The text is backed by numerous illustrations, including contemporary photographs, sketches, maps and eight colour plates.
