Addicted To Love

Two fallen angels, who start out their human life as confused misfits, eventually find each other and true love. Along the way they discover the complexities of human sexually, lust, and love while evolving into demigods who save all the realities from the twisted clutches of evil.

Since childhood I have always been a sucker for tales of adventure, especially when there is a healthy dose of magical realism thrown in that surrounds everything, adding mystery, uncertainty, and intrigue to the storyline. The satisfying ending is in the best tradition of the Hero’s journey: defeat of all villains and the winning of true love.

Addicted contains all the hallmarks of a classic adventure: exotic locations, jungles, burial tombs, pyramids, alternative realities, ritual sacrifice, light travel, LA latino barroom nightlife, plus a well conceived and deep cast of entertaining characters from everywhere.

I liked the writing style. It reminded me a little of the 30s and 40s popular mystery writers Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett’s bantering dialog, sharing their cynical humor and wry insights into the various weaknesses of the human characters they are forced to deal with as their story unfolds.

The book divided into three parts:

The Part I opening grabbed my attention immediately.

Part II was necessary, but a little less heart pumping.

Part III instantly thrust me back into the thick of the adventure, and the wrap-up at the end pulled everything back together for a happy and satisfying conclusion. A sequel perhaps? There are hints in the ending that could easily lead into another adventure for the two lovers.

I loved it. Five stars.
