Whispers From the Deep

A retired detective seeking peace by a Swiss lakeside is drawn into a murder investigation, forcing her to confront the secrets of a close-knit village, and those she thought she’d left behind.

The past doesn’t drown; it only waits for the tide to turn.

Retirement was meant to be simple: books, music, and leisurely days on the water. Former detective Audrey Kilburn believed she had finally found peace in the quiet lakeside village of Portalban, far from the pressures of Zürich and her past life. But when a shocking murder disturbs the tranquil community, Audrey finds herself drawn back into a world of secrets, suspicion, and danger.

Teaming up with her old friend Markus, the village detective, Audrey is drawn into an investigation where every neighbour harbours secrets and the past refuses to stay buried. With her sharp intuition and dry wit, she must untangle a web of lies and betrayals lurking beneath the tranquil surface of Lake Neuchâtel.

As tensions escalate and another body threatens to emerge, Audrey must face not only the darkness within the village but also the shadows of her own past. Escaping was only the start. Now she must confront the truth to survive.
