This Modern Love Now

16,000 people. The apps, the hook-ups, the heartbreak & the love stories

'The messages we send. The ones we delete. The ones we never send at all.' A candid portrait of love, dating and connection in the digital age - comprised of over 10,000 anonymously written love letters.

‘No one has a better insight into why modern romance can feel so difficult - and where many of us are going wrong’ Telegraph

Following ten years after the publication of This Modern Love, Will Darbyshire - now in his thirties - looks at how modern love has changed with This Modern Love Now.

Receiving over 10,000 submissions from men and women around the world, from hopeless romantics to OnlyFans stars, Will delves into the latest dynamics alongside the lasting themes: the rise of dating apps, long-distance relationships, throuples, ‘situationships’, sex, affairs, hook-ups, divorce and children.

The paradox of modern romance is endless choice and aching loneliness, higher standards and deeper self-knowledge; ghosting, breadcrumbing and yet an undimmed belief in soulmates and forever.

Raw, funny, furious and tender, these letters capture the full spectrum of human emotion in an age of DMs and disappearing messages.

'Tender and beautiful' Matt Haig on This Modern Love

'Such an amazing idea. Will’s put this together so well. It would make the loveliest gift for someone you love or a friend. Honestly, the nicest coffee table book. Zoe Sugg on This Modern Love
