In 'Divorce Court', a catalogue of occult phenomena is entwined with elements from the author's own life. Later, yet another violent and embittered marriage breakdown is exacerbated by extra-terrestrial meddling, as Suzuki adds her own idiosyncratic spin to the doomed domestic drama.

In other stories, Suzuki reflects an urban population still reeling from an extreme ambivalence. to the developments of the 20th century, and artificially accelerated post-war westernisation are likewise set-upon by ghosts, aliens, witches and some twisted constructs that are entirely Suzuki's own.
