The catalogue comprises almost 1,000 entries arranged geographically according to continent and region. This important volume was undertaken by William Stevenson upon the death of Robert Kerr, in order to complete the collection. As well as providing an index and catalogue, the volume includes Stevenson’s own unique and little known account of ancient commerce and commercial enterprise from earliest times to the early nineteenth century.
