The Kingston Prize: Canada’s Portrait Competition presents over 250 extraordinary contemporary portraits by Canadian artists, celebrating the finalists and winners of the first nine editions of one of the country’s leading portrait competitions.

Founded in 2005 in Kingston, Ontario, the Kingston Prize is a biennial event that has received 3,500 submissions since its inception. The finalists and winning portraits have been viewed by hundreds of thousands of visitors to the related exhibitions, held across Canada in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Quebec, and Alberta.

Generously illustrated with full-colour reproductions of work by every finalist and winner since the inception of the prize, The Kingston Prize: Canada’s Portrait Competition offers a visual record of life in Canada and an inspiring range of approaches to portraiture by contemporary artists.

Le Prix Kingston : Prix du portrait au Canada présente plus de 250 portraits contemporains ordinaires, œuvres d’artistes canadiens, finalistes ou lauréats des neuf premières éditions du plus prestigieux concours de ce genre du pays.

Fondé en 2005 à Kingston, en Ontario, le Prix Kingston est un événement biennal qui a attiré quelque 3 500 candidatures depuis sa création.
