Unable to return home and lost in a world unfamiliar to him, seventeen-year-old Sonny Venshae has lost everything. With no skill for survival, combat or much of anything else, Sonny lays blame for his woes at the feet of none other than the notorious and legendary Black Knight. 

Determined to claim his vengeance, Sonny joins a gang of colourful mercenaries as they embark on a dangerous adventure that even the most experienced among them may not survive. Forced to balance his own desires against the good of the group, Sonny's internal battle puts all at risk as they fight across a deadly and inhospitable land.
