In hopes that having her partner’s child would solidify this outcome, Jess became pregnant at nineteen but begrudgingly learned that the vision she had for her life—as a wife and mother—would have to be reimagined.

After multiple attempts at a relationship between her and her son’s father failed, Jess accepted that, while they would never get married, they were forever linked by the lifetime commitment of raising a child together.
