Intersectionality in Higher Education

An Action Guide for Change

For staff and students across higher education, we know that intersecting identities, legacies, cultures, and challenges shape opportunities to participate, stay, and succeed. Yet, institutions continue to treat inequalities in isolation, exacerbating the widening gaps through which marginalised communities continue to fall.

Bringing together leading international scholars and practitioners, this pioneering volume situates the role of intersectionality in policy and practice through clear, actionable guidance to embed it across higher education. Through critical reflection and concrete steps for implementation, it equips readers to move beyond theory into meaningful institutional change.

Essential reading for leaders in higher education navigating contemporary issues and questions of inclusion, equity, and transformative action, this book offers the vision and tools to shape a more socially just and inclusive future for staff and students alike.
