Devastated by bombing, very few buildings that stood in the centre of Plymouth before the Second World War still remain. With the narrow, cobbled streets destroyed, the face of the city was changed forever. After the war, a new, modern city centre was built, with first-class stores and spacious streets. Today, some areas are totally unrecognisable, but some beloved features have remained unchallenged and unchanged.
