In this retelling of a traditional tale, a young shepherd boy gets fed up when he looks after the sheep. He cries, "Wolf!" to play a trick on the people in the village. Then, one day, a wolf really does come, and he discovers why it doesn't pay to tell lies.

Reading Champion offers independent reading books for children to practise and reinforce their developing reading skills.

Fantastic stories are accompanied by engaging artwork and a reading activity. Each book has been carefully graded so that it can be matched to a child's reading ability, encouraging reading for pleasure. This retelling of the original traditional tale is suitable for children aged 5-7, or those reading at book band Green 5.
