With her husband on the Western Front, Hattie Braithwaite throws herself into work at the local mill.

When Maggie Flemming, an avid football fan, joins the production line the pair soon bond over their shared love of the game, encouraging others to join them in a lunchtime kickabout.

Widower Joshua Swainbank, head of the Mill, is so cheered by the sight he decides to sponsor a team. With fearless Maggie and gifted striker Hattie leading the charge, the Yorkshire Ladies’ football team is born and capturing hearts across the county.

Yet as the crowds grow, so do Joshua’s feelings for Hattie. For now, all he can do is support her passion for football. Will the Yorkshire Ladies Football Club continue to rise to the challenge of proving just what women can do or will it all end in tears?
