Hell to Pay

The riotous new horror from Sunday Times bestselling author of Bat Eater, featuring an intestine-eating demon and the landlord from hell
Three roommates, each struggling with their own demons, can't catch a break when their landlord raises their rent by $500 per month in post-pandemic NYC. To make matters worse, they soon discover an actual demon haunting their apartment - one that demands its own form of payment.

Three friends.
One intestine-eating demon.
And a whole lot of blood.

Leni was kidnapped and almost sacrificed to the devil as a child. Emerson was a leading heart surgeon until The Incident that left his patient dead. Jasper sees a man in the shadows who likes the taste of blood.

They're fine. They're normal. They're roommates making it work in New York City.

But after their landlord raises their rent, they soon discover an even bigger problem: a demonic sigil, painted in gore on their living room wall, demanding payment of another kind.

Now, they have seven days to bring Sychar a sacrifice, or he'll tear off their skin. Who knew demon-slaying wasn't a valid excuse to miss work? How is a low-income household supposed to afford a human sacrifice? And just how far are they willing to go to keep each other safe?

The blood-slicked, riveting and darkly humorous new novel from Kylie Lee Baker, the critically acclaimed, Sunday Times bestselling, Shirley Jackson Award-winning author of Bat Eater and Japanese Gothic.
