Since the 1990s a huge variety of emergency vehicles have been seen in the Thames Valley area – Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, and Oxfordshire. In this book, author and photographer Geraint H. Roberts provides a photographic survey of vehicles from the ambulance service, fire and rescue services, police forces and miscellaneous emergency and local, regional, national and voluntary organisations operating in this area during this period. Vehicles covered range from ambulances from the NHS and military organisations, Fire & Rescue Service vehicles from local authority and military brigades, police vehicles from Home Office and non-Home Office (national) police forces and military police. Many were photographed during large events in the Thames Valley, including the Henley Regatta, Tour of Britain cycle races, The Ride of Respect, the King’s Coronation Concert and the Olympic Torch Relay.
