The focus is on examining and describing the techniques used in training performers and how these techniques can be applied to Western training in drama and dance. The book also explores the relationships between improvisation and structured dramatic forms, as well as between contemporary performance approaches and traditional heritage. It offers a guide to current practice, with detailed analyses of recent theatrical performances examining all aspects of production, performance and audience reception.
