Jenna B. Good is a witch. She worked as a hunter for the Department of Preternatural Affairs until a fae lunatic killed her werewolf fiancé, Sam, and her mentor, Hiro. Grief-stricken, she resigned to run Elm City Arcana, the shop she inherited from Hiro. Now the only things she hunts are precious magical artifacts for her wealthy clients.

Then a vampire assassin shows up looking for her witch apprentice, Maya. Jenna takes her in, only to learn that the predator was sent by the world's most powerful vampire cabal, and that someone in the local community reported Maya to them. Enlisting the help of her hunter friend Rick, who would have been Sam's best man, Jenna uncovers a far deeper mystery in her apprentice's past. Can she prove Maya's innocence before it's too late?
