DESCRIPTION

The perfect introduction to the rebellious designer who ripped up t-shirts - and the fashion rulebook.

Punk, visionary, rebel, activist - these are only some words that can be used to describe Vivienne Westwood as well as, of course, iconic designer.

Westwood's strong political messaging and bold, unapologetically original designs came to define the punk aesthetic in the 1970s. From humble origins on the Kings Road in London to receiving countless awards and ultimately a damehood - there is no denying that Vivienne Westwood left an indelible mark on the fashion industry, culture and the world.

This little book charts the history of Vivienne Westwood - from Westwood's story and legacy to the brand's continued success today. Discover the iconic Pirate and Harris Tweed collections, the brand's mesmerizing orb and Westwood's committed activism. From Kate Moss and Dua Lipa to Harry Styles and Rihanna, Vivienne Westwood is adored by the rich and famous, fashion elite and everyday fashionistas alike.

With enlightening quotes from Westwood and those who knew her, as well as fascinating facts, this is the perfect book for fashion enthusiasts and nonconformists alike.

"My clothes have an identity. They have a character and a purpose. That's why they become classics. Because they keep on telling a story. They are still telling it." - Vivienne Westwood

Before becoming a celebrated designer, Vivienne Westwood was a primary school teacher. For five years she taught art to children, while selling jewellery on the side, teaching herself how to cut and sew, and using her school salary to take classes.

The co-founder of Vivienne Westwood's shop SEX, Malcolm McLaren, managed English band the Sex Pistols, who Westwood would become the outfitter for.
