This beautifully illustrated card set is a practical tool for promoting emotional literacy and creative storytelling with children aged from 4 to 8 years. The central characters (a boy and a girl) express and share different feelings, both positive and difficult, brought to life through visual metaphor.

Following the characters' range of expressions, children are encouraged to recognise and explore emotions in safe ways. Cards can be used in different ways; children can be invited to choose a card to match how they feel, or create their own stories about characters. In stepping into different scenes, children can develop empathy, both for others and themselves.

The cards can serve as a springboard for children to invent personal metaphors of their own feelings. In sharing these, children may realise that they are not alone.
