A New Interpretation of Christianity. On April 6, 1830, six people organized a church called the Church of Christ which others soon began calling the 'Mormon Church.' Eventually, the founder of the church, Joseph Smith, named it The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1838. Since its humble beginnings, the Mormon church has grown to over nine million members internationally. The LDS Worldview is an anthropological and sociological study of the worldview of the Latter-day Saints (Mormons).
