Egbert's Uncle Fred is off on a trip round the world. After a while postcards start arriving from far-off lands, each with a special 'musical friend' for Egbert and his violin, and a mysterious coded message.

Postcards to Egbert introduces absolute beginner violinists to the rudiments of good technique, particularly the development of a strong sense of rhythm. All these 'mini-pieces' use open strings only: simple but imaginative piano accompaniments contribute to the young pupil's confidence and sense of achievement.
