La Calisto was first performed in Venice In 1651. The present realization was prepared by Raymond Leppard, initially for performance by Glyndebourne Festival Opera in 1970 - the first known performance since 1651. La Calisto is an Italian opera in two acts, and lasts approximately 180 minutes.

La Calisto is an opera by Francesco Cavalli from a libretto by Giovanni Faustini based on the mythological story of Callisto. This is the vocal score and piano reduction, with English translation by Geoffrey Dunn and German translation by Karl Robert Marz.
